Large cherry production in Peshkopi is going in vain because farmers are unable to transport them with a normal cost.

The Vakuf village farmers in the Kastriot Commune have decided to not collect their cherry trees, because there would be no profits.

Medat Doda is one of the farmers that has cultivate 150 trees of cherries for the last 15 years. The production this year is very good and in a very nice quality, but the sale price is 40 ALL per kilogram, while the collecting workers are paid 20 ALL per kilogram.

The biggest problem for the cost is the transportation from Peshkopia to Tirana. The national road is damaged and it takes a lot of time to move them.
