Permet, Municipality sues for public property damages

Permet Municipality has filed a criminal lawsuit against the persons
that demolished the Culture Center “Naim Frasheri”. The lawsuit came
after Top-Channel’s program “The Other Albania” discovered that the
Culture Center was being secretly demolished for building illegally an
orthodox church.
The church pretends the ownership of this building, but the Court rejected it. However, the Culture Center has been demolished in the inside, leaving only the surrrounding walls that cover the construction of the church within. This fact was published by Top-Channel, and afterwards the new Mayor of Permet filed a criminal suit at court.
The proofs in written and visual forms were submitted to the prosecution. Sources say that the construction company hired to demolish the Culture Center and to build the church, has left. They have demolished the inside of the building, leaving only the surrounding walls and the bust of Naim Frasheri.
Permet Municipality had frequently requested to the Municipal Council for approving a plan that included the church too, but this request was rejected with votes. But the same administration today is suing the illegal construction, with the signature of Mayor Edmond Komino from the Democratic Party, who will soon leave the office after the victory of the Socialist Party.
