People in their forties who don’t consume enough water, fruits or
vegetables, are more prone to have kidney, hearts or liver problems.
On the World Kidney Day, experts appeal Albanians to start their day with a glass of water. Professor Myftar Barbullushi says Albanians don’t consume enough water, although we are a Mediterranean country.
“People after their forties have 60% more chances to get kidney diseases, 40% more chances for coronary diseases, 33% more chances for diabetes. Albanians must consume more water than Central European countries, because we live in a Mediterranean climate”, declared Prof.Barbullushi.
International studies have shown that water is a very important element that affects the functionality of kidneys. One out of 10 people have kidney problems, and these diseases can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle.
“Four different studies published in the most prestigious magazines of the United States have reached the conclusion that people who drink more water have fewer problems with their hearts and kidneys, and they have a better quality of life”, the professor declared.
Representatives of the Public Health Institution and the Nephrology have opened some stands at the “Vellezerit Frasheri” in Tirana, where they have given information and important messages for the prevention of this disease and for consuming more water.
