The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hashim Thaci,
declared that the coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK)
was not the ideal solution for any of the parties, but this is the only
way to create new institutions after a six-month blockage.
“We reached an agreement for building new institutions in the Republic of Kosovo. We had delays, but this is a righteous agreement”, Thaci declared.
The details about this agreement have not been made public yet, but Thaci says that everything will be transparent in the next hours. He added that the discussion of this Wednesday was only in principle.
Top Channel sources inside both political parties have let know that they will agree about the key government positions in the days to come. There are several possible schemes.
The first scenario is with LDK having the Prime Minister and half of the ministries, while PDK will have half of the government, the Parliament and Presidency after Jahjaga’s mandate will end in 2016.
The second scenario is for Thaci to keep being Prime Minister until 2016, and then continue as president. Until then, Isa Mustafa would be parliament leader.
The agreement between Mustafa and Thaci will be witnessed and guaranteed by the US Embassy, Tracey Ann Jackobson.
