Pay tolls for Durres-Kukes highway in 2015

The passage of the Durres-Kukes highway will have a pay toll next year.
The Minister of Transportation, Edmond Haxhinasto, declared that the
maintenance of this axis will pass to the private sector.
“The tender will start within this year and within the next year we will have the private sector covering part of the important investments, the road maintenance”, Haxhinasto declared.
Albania has spent billions of dollars in the past years for building new roads. The government says that the maintenance cost is high and cannot be afforded by the budget.
“The fund for road maintenance in 2015 was around 4 billion ALL. 30% of the budget for this sector goes for road maintenance”, Haxhinasto declared.
The budget of the Ministry of Public Affairs for 2015 will be 43 billion ALL, mainly for building roads and aqueducts.
