Patients flock “Military” hospital

The reanimation room of intensive treatment has no more room. There are only 13 respiratory equipments and for additional cases they have used the equipments in more than one patient.

“We are in difficult days, since the number of patients in a difficult situation has been high. The reanimation is full and we don’t have free equipments. We currently have 17 patients, 13 respiratory equipments and four other patients who don’t need them. This is the maximal capacity. We have used the operation room equipments for urgent situations but this is not a solution. We need special equipments for patients who come in difficult conditions”, says Lindita Shosha, Head of the Trauma Service.

100 patients go each day in this urgency, 20 of whom are hospitalized. Doctors are working in difficult conditions and they ask the Health Ministry to coordinate their work with the hospitals of other districts, and appeal the police to influence in reducing the number of accidents and murders.

“The number of accidents is very high. The number of patients in very difficult conditions is very high. The number of patients with head traumas is prevailing, and many of them need respiratory equipments. `The hospital needs to get coordinated before a patients with firearm wounds comes here, since they need urgent interventions. We must make sure that there is one free respiratory equipment and that we have all capacities to help the aptient. I appeal the police to be more careful in identifying the people whoa re a danger in the streets of Albania, for themselves and for the others. We need a stronger support from the Health Ministry”, Shosha declared.

This hospital also treats people with cardiac problems, diabetic patients and others, although they should go to the Tirana University Hospital Center, according to Shota.
