Parliamentary debate for energy price changes

“If you don’t want this, then you must return the price limit. A price 24% higher has made the energy price unaffordable. I want to tell to the Albanian citizens that it will be even worse. The current price is two to five times higher than in every other country of the continent”, declared the Democratic Party MP, Sali Berisha.

“The reality is that the average price was 9.78 ALL, and the real price today is 9.5 ALL, 3% cheaper, and lower than the average price, based on real statistics. We unified the fee since it is the best practice proven anywhere, damaging only the poor people who are taking the right compensation for it, so that nothing changes for them”, answered Damian Gjiknuri, the Minister of energy answered.

“The truth is that this operation doesn’t cost anything. The reduced VAT will be for businesses, which will credit what they pay. The budget effect is neutral. As for individuals, you still have the 1.6 billion ALL in the budget. Today is April 9th and I keep insisting, Mr.Cani, that the money that you have used for compensating the poor is zero”, declared the Democratic Party MP, Florion Mima.

“When you refer to the people, you must also tell them that you have hurt the economies of the honest people of this country, who use their small family budgets to pay energy not only for themselves, but also for those who never paid and kept stealing day after day. We are talking about the consumption of average families that consume 400 KW, and their monthly fee is lower with our system. Your are lying! Do the math, don’t give numbers banally from your propaganda”, declared the Head of the Parliamentary Commission of Economy, Erion Brace.

The proposition of the Democratic Party, the one for energy and for returning the circulation tax in the former levels, have been rejected by the majority in commissions.
