Paraplegic without payment

Again delay in payments for the disabled. Persons with this status have not received the monthly payment for July and August in cities of Lezha, Lushnjë, and Pogradec.

Being the only money resource to live, people with disabilities have complained to the Ombudsman institution whose commissioners are also appealing to the Ministry of Labour and Finance to resolve this problem immediately, as respect for the rights of this category is one of the priorities of the Albanian Government on the path of European integration.

“We ask to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the Ministry of Finance to immediately send the funds for these payments. Persons with disabilities and their rights are one of the most important missions for the institution of the Ombudsman. They are part of the 11 recommendations set by the EU for Albania and in this regard, not only the development of legislation and policy for persons with disabilities but also their implementation have been subject to assessments, and the recommendations of our institution,” said Arben Shkëmbi, commissioner of the Ombudsman.

Delays in the payment of disable people, was constant and this category remains one of the marginalized strata of Albanian society by being denied access.
