Instead of removing them, Serbia is asking a legalization of the
parallel structures in Kosovo. Belgrade has no intention to remove the
institutions in Northern Kosovo, despite the suggestions of the German
Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
One day after the visit, the so called State Secretary of the Ministry for Kosovo, Oliver Ivanovic, underlined that it would be easier if the international community and Prishtina would accept the Serbian institutions.
Ivanovic explained that it is very necessary for Serbia to have its institutions, because they would serve to all Serbian citizens in Kosovo.
According to him, health and education cannot be considered parallel institutions, and the local administration will be impossible to be cancelled, because the northern citizens have no other alternatives.
But he said that the government must speak more with the Northern Serbs, and have them as partners in implementing some conditions set by Brussels.
According to Ivanovic, the pressure added to the Serbs has a negative effect and the dissatisfaction for Europe will increase, because the Serbs feel like having double conditions.
