The “Metropol” shopping center in Lushnje was engulfed today by a sudden fire that spread to the upper floors of the building.
The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. as the Police Station forcës and numerous fire brigades went to the scene to evacuate citizens and residents above the shopping center.
National security forces have also been sent to support the Local Police for the evacuation of citizens, as no injuries have been reported until recently.
It has become possible to evacuate some people in one wing of the building. On the upper floors of the shopping center there are apartments with people.
People in the shopping center have already been evacuated, while there is no exact figure on how many there were, but it is reported that the residents of the building are more at risk.
The rescue operation continues, while further investigations are expected to start on the causes of the serious event.
