Tirana’s newly built theater “ArTurbina” opened its doors for the Pan-Albanian Theater Festival, the biggest annual event of 2018. 14 theaters troops from all Albanian-speaking lands will bring their plays on the scene, from September 23rd to 30th.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that the investment for ArTurbina has a special significance to the city. He underlined that Albania’s capital will have a new National Theater, and he invited everyone to leave the hysteria behind and let development take on.
The Mayor said that Turbina, same as the new National Theater, will be very successful.
“We must leave hysteria behind and understand that these buildings are built for the people, to inspire them and to let them enjoy the city. This is how we can fund theaters like the one we are seeing today”, the Mayor said.
“Thanks to an agenda full of activities from the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of Culture, Albania’s Capital has turned into an arts center. There are around 700 cultural events a year. All of this is taking place within 1 square kilometer, from the Skanderbeg Square to the New Market and the Artificial Lake amphitheatre”, Veliaj declared.
