Matthew Palmer, the US Envoy for Western Balkan, declared from the Bled Forum, in Slovenia, that one of his main goals is to help Albania and Northern Macedonia open the negotiations with the EU within October.
Another goal of Washington Palmer said, is bringing back Kosovo and Serbia to the dialogue table, in order to achieve full normalization of relations.
“We have some important goals, such as assisting Albania and Macedonia to secure the opening of the EU accession negotiations with the EU, ideally in October, and also to help Serbia and Kosovo go back t dialogue, and reach an agreement for full normalization of the relations. We want to work with Bosnia Herzegovina and the authorities there in a state level, but also with cantons, municipalities, supporting deep reforms, functionality and engagement for the European future of all Bosnian residents”, Palmer said.
The high-level US official said that “We have heard regularly from our partners and allies in the region that the USA has not been present enough in the Western Balkans. That’s why the goal I have in this role is to be present”, Palmer declared.
