A few months after it went back under government management, the Energy
Distribution Operator might go private again. The program of economic
reforms 2015-2017, which has officially been sent to the European Union
too, the Ministry of Finances reveals that the reforms in energy will be
followed by a restructuring of the public electric companies, for
increasing their efficiency.

“In this context, the distribution company will have a performance management contract”, says the Ministry of Finances.

The document shows that the government is consulting with a company which is expect of these cases. According to the Minister, this agreement will be signed by mid year.

The Minister of Energy had already hinted that the Distribution Operator was to be given to private operators. Sources from the Ministry of Energy  admit that this is a possible option that is being discussed.

According to them, there is still one idea. This project might get materialized by the mid of this year.

The document doesn’t uncover further details about the agreement and what role will the private operators have. But if the government will chose, the OSHEE, the most important company of the energy system, might go again under private administration by still being a public property.

This would be the second time, after the failure with CEZ. Although, in the first time, the distribution company was sold entirely. This resulted into a strategic failure with a huge cost for the system and the national economy.
