The OSCE representative in Albania, Bernd Borchardt, said today at the
conference “Resolution 1325, women, peace and security in Albania”, that
the number of women in Parliament is still not enough.
“The elections of 2017 are getting closer and I want to tell you one last thing. Regardless of the positive trend, the number of women candidates in Albania’s Parliament is still not enough. Although from the legal point of view this requires just a few law amends on the Electoral Code, we need political will to make it happen”, said the OSCE representative in Tirana.
“Albania is the only country in the region without a National Action plan for women”, Brochardt said, appealing government to institutionalize the efforts for this action plan.
