OSCE: May 8th, a celebration day

OSCE ambassador, after a meeting with the Interior Minister Bujar
Nishani, declared that OSCE expects to see on May 8th the best elections
ever held in Albania.

“We expect a calm day that celebrates democracy. We expect the citizens to have free access to the voting centers, to participate and contribute with this civic duty, by giving the vote and trusting the system. The Police has had very good preparations in order to assist when need calls, creating a peaceful environment”, the ambassador said.

Asked about the opposition accusations against the Police, the ambassador Eugen Wollfarth said that the Police serve to all citizens.

“It is important for the citizens to not abandon their peaceful behavior. It is important to not feel threatened. It is interesting that the police uniform has both the red and blue colors, because the police serve to the citizens of all colors. We do not expect criminal acts on the election day, because the police has been trained to serve in these elections”, the ambassador declared.

The Interior Minister declared that OSCE has a given a great contribution to these elections, and guaranteed of securing a calm voting environment.
