Dunja Mijatovic, representative of the OSCE for the media freedom,
during her report for the period 30 November 2012 and June 2013, in the
paragraph for Albania underlined the concern that the National Council
of Ratio Television and the Albanian Public Television risk to remain
political instruments of the Albanian state.
“I wrote to the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, on March 1st and expressed my concern on the digital transmission draft law, showing him that the law failed to demand the main politically involved institutions for the Regulation of National Broadcasts, National Council of Radio and Television and the Albanian Public Television, risking that both these institutions will remain political instruments for the majority. My office will keep observing the implementation of the new legislation”, Mijatovic declared.
During her visits in Albania, Dunja Mijatovic also mentioned the financial discrimination that is made to the media with the state advertisement.
