OSCE Ambassador meets Art students

The OSCE Ambassador to Tirana, Bernd Borchardt, met with students of the
Tirana Arts Academy, where he held a speech about the challenges that
art and culture are facing today.
Borchardt appealed students that now, before elections, they should vote and chose their candidates fairly, not for favors.
“You are the ones who chose the democracy you want to live in. Make the right choice. We support Albania’s electoral reform and our ODIHR colleagues will monitor the elections, but it is up to Albanians to decide their path with their votes”, Borchardt declared.
“Major changes such as the refugee crisis, their sufferings, massive migration, terror threats and inequality are phenomena that are also being reflected in art. Albania and its artists have faced major changes in 1990, from the communist regime to a new one. This is why the past should be treated in art. We encourage national dialogue for treating the past and we hope that Albanian artists will reflect it with their work”, Borchardt said.
