The Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, was expected to come to Albania for Orthodox Easter, but he didn’t.
His visit was announced for this April, when both Foreign Ministers, Bushati and Kotzias, had met to discuss details.
“We have made progress in Korca as well”, Minister Bushati said.
If everything went well, Tsipras was expected to visit Korca for Easter, together with his family, and attend a new official meeting with Prime Minister Rama for signing the strategic documents between both countries.
The meeting of the two Prime Ministers in Davos reinforced the idea, while the talks were giving concrete products.
The Albanian side started working for the construction of the Greek soldiers’ cemetery in Albania. The abrogation of the War Law was announced in Greece. The Apostilles Stamp was removed, creating a positive impact for Albanian citizens who live and work in Greece.
A new agreement was expected for driver licenses, but the maritime border remains a difficult part.
When asked outside the Parliament by Top Channel’s journalist if they were about to prepare a meeting with the Prime Minister in Tirana, Bushati said: “Normally, the work is undergoing”.
Bushati said later that there is no specific date for finalizing the visit of Tsipras, and last week, after meeting with his Greek counterpart, the Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs said that the meeting was postponed for Summer.
“We will have all the necessary time to fulfil this strategic objective and resolve all problems with our southern neighbour. There will be a successful resolution”, Rama said on February 26th.
On the other hand, Greek media speak about colder relations between both countries, after Rama’s meeting with Erdogan. The Greek Foreign Minister is expected to return soon to Albania, but there is no official date.
