Orthodox devotees commemorate Christ’s baptism

The Blessed Water Day was celebrated today by the Orthodox devotees, who
have followed the cross throwing in water ceremony, which commemorated
Jesus Christ’s baptism by John Baptist in the Jordan River.

All Albanian Orthodox devotees held this holy ceremony. The Orthodox clergymen that threw the crosses in seas, rivers and fountains, and the young men dived for the luck of who catches it first. The winner in the Korce City for this year is Gentjan Gora.

In Durres, this ceremony was held at the city’s port and the cross was caught by a 21-year-old student.
