Opposition’s leader message for the Diaspora Summit

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, addressed a message to
members of the diaspora, explaining the reasons why he was not part of
the summit.

Basha says that he was given only the right to greet them during the government gala event, and he could not be part of it.

Basha says that the abandoning of Albania is the main threat against the future of the country.

“The main threat for the future of our country is the abandoning of Tirana. More than 1000 Albanians have applied once again for the US immigration lottery, while dozens of thousands of others try each year to emigrate to Europe, Canada and anywhere else. In the next 5-10 years, the number of Albanians abroad will be bigger than those living here”, Basha said.

He added that the Albanian people want to leave because their homeland is not offering them a better and decent life. “You know better than me that leaving is a huge pain, but you are evidence of how deep is the sorrow when you understand that your country gives you no hope to fulfill your dreams and purposes with work, talent and honesty”, Basha said.

He asked participants to be involved directly with their democratic culture in the Albanian politics, to better serve values.
