After announcing Edi Rama’s rerun as Mayor of Tirana, Socialist Party has chosen the candidates for some of the biggest cities.

Qazim Sejdini was announced in Elbasan as expected, and his rival will be the left centered Durim Hushi.

Democrat Ferdinand Xhaferraj in Durrës will face socialist Vangjush Dako.

Niko Peleshi’s rerun was confirmed in Korça and for Vlora it was the same with Shpëtim Gjika’s candidacy, who has headed the city for some consequent mandates.

Socialist candidate in Pogradec will be again Artan Shkëmbi.

After a brief battle between socialists for the Gjirokastra candidacy, Socialist Party decided that Flamur Bime will run again on May 8th local elections.

Socialist voices from Lezha hint that they will race with their former Mayor, today deputy of that electoral area, Gjon Jaku.

Lushnja’s duel will also be between left centered candidates, putting socialist Fatos Tushe against SMI’s current Mayor, Albert Sanxhaku.

For cities like Berati, Shkodra and Saranda, discussions are still under way.

The Socialist leadership assembly that was scheduled for today has been postponed, because of different meetings that are currently going between the socialists.

The first meeting will approve candidacies of main municipalities and communes, and it is expected that most of them will be given to former candidates.
