Opposition writes to CEC: “We’ll not register for elections without technical government”

The Democratic Party has officially notified the Central Election
Commission that they will not register for elections without a political
agreement that guarantees free and fair elections.

“The parties of the opposition’s coalition will not allow elections in Albania to be held just for show, elections captured by crime and drug money. With an official request sent to the CEC, the parties of the coalition let them know that we will not present a request to register for these elections, until we make a political agreement that guarantees free and fair elections. Only a technical government can secure the implementation of the decriminalization law, an efficient fight against the drug traffic, organized crime and drug money, and can prepare free and fair elections”, the Democratic Party said.

However, Lulzim Basha said this is not a boycott.

“Whoever says this is a boycott, is hugely mistaken. There will be no boycott, just fair elections and free from crime, drug and corruption money”, Basha said.

“We will not withdraw. Any withdrawal would be a betrayal. There is only one solution, having a technical government to replace the cabinet of shame, crime and drugs that Edi Rama is having”, Basha said.
