Opposition protests on boulevard

The Democratic Party chose the 23rd anniversary of the toppling of the
Enver Hoxha statue in Tirana for warning a hot political season, in
which they will unite all dissatisfactions against the government and
will protest again against it.

This February 20th was the first march of the protest against what the opposition considers an electoral deceit of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

By asking the government leader to keep the electoral promises, Basha warned that this will not be the only protest.

The Democratic Party has not given a date for the next protest, but March 22nd is the closest celebration for the Democratic Party, their first victory in an election.

“What do you call this, dear citizens, when after taking votes with a huge list of promises, they were all abandoned the next day and thrown away from the winner. How can this be resolved. This protest will be followed by others, even more powerful, until the Prime Minister who tore apart the agreement with his people, will take the responsibilities that he deserves. Because everyone who lies for votes cannot enjoy the power”, declared the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha.

The opposition leader was careful not articulating a request for early elections in the fifth month of the new coalition between Rama and Meta, but this may be a request if the government loses the status in June.

“Our country cannot live in the fatality of our government’s failures. It would be crazy if the Albanian people are led from failure to failure for the next four years. Through popular protest, the free people will take the status issue in their hands. I warn, on behalf of the Albanian people, to not play with the people”, Basha declared.

The opposition leader spoke in a podium that was decorated with balloons, on which were written what the Democratic Party lists as promises that the government coalition did not keep. The democrats exploded those balloons after the protest.
