The deputy of the opposition Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, has reacted strongly after the government’s decision to place the Ministry of Culture under that of the Economy.
Through a message on social networks, Zhupa writes that the decision shows the treatment of the country’s cultural heritage as a market commodity, and concessions as a work method. Zhupa said that the fleeing Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, is the ‘next victim’, who, after being used as a killer of culture, was thrown away, dissolving the ministry as well.
“The union of culture with the economy, is the formalizing the treatment of cultural heritage as a market commodity and concessions as a working method. Albania, treated as a market goods, where not even culture is saved, is clearly expressed with this decision. Farewell Elva Margariti, we will not miss you at all, they used you as a killer of culture and rejected you by dissolving your ministry”, – said Zhupa.
As one of the most vocal opponents against the concession of the natural park in Butrint, Zhupa says that Margariti will remain for a few more hours on the board of this concession until the decision is issued by the Constitutional Court.
