The political divisions between the majority and the opposition
regarding the qualified majority voting of the justice reform are deeper
than what has been seen so far. This was confirmed by the DP leader,
Lulzim Basha, during a press release, who blamed Prime Minister Edi Rama
of being an obstacle to the reform.
“Our persistence brought an accordance this Saturday to reflect on recommendation 55 of the Venice Commission, which says that the decisions for the future institutions cannot be taken by a qualified majority that the current political majority has. Our experts made the respective propositions based on this. But the experts of Edi Rama withdrew to consult him and on the next day we saw that he doesn’t want the justice reform. Compromise was broken and we insisted on a 3/5th qualified majority”, Basha said.
The opposition leader said that the recent developments showed that Rama is the one who doesn’t want a justice reform, who doesn’t want institutions that fight corruption, because his purpose is to capture the justice system and dictate the Prosecutors and Judges of the future.
He said that the opposition is determined to not allow Edi Rama to capture justice, but Lulzim Basha did not specify how they will do it. The opposition leader left to be understood that the opposition will not hand over any draft to the Social Parliamentary Commission for the Justice Reform.
