Opposition leader: “OSCE-ODIHR report showed steps back”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, declared that the final
report of the OSCE-ODIHR for the June 21st elections is the darkest
stain of the Albanian electoral processes since 2003.

Basha said the report was showing there were no free and fair elections in Albania, because the government violated the basic standards by taking democracy many steps back.

He added that the report concluded that the public administration employees could not vote without fear of punishment by the government. And this, according to Basha, is not because the lack of legislations, but due to the lack of good will from Rama and Meta.

The third conclusion, according to Basha, shows that the government fought on the June 21st elections against the citizens and the opposition. The opposition leader said the voters’ list had been politicized and the government recruited gangs and used them with the protection of the police.

Basha said that his party is determined and will use any force and instrument, together with the citizens, to return free and honest elections, which are vital for democratic development.
