Although the proportions and cause of the opposition’s protest in Tirana are much more different than Bucharest’s, the Democratic Party
leader, Lulzim Basha, believes they are on the right track.
“This is a huge lesson of democracy. Four days of unstoppable protest”, Basha said.
Several high-school students joined the protesters today, to whom Basha promised: “My first act in government will be repealing the higher-education law”.
The only request of the opposition is having an interim government until elections, while the press is waiting for Ilir Meta’s decision, as the main government ally.
Democratic Party ally, Agron Duka, was the only one from the opposition who met with Ilir Meta this Monday. However, he said it is difficult to give conclusions about what Meta might decide.
While Meta kept saying he was against ultimatums, the opposition leader continued his warnings: “There are only two ways. Either we will admit that the free and fair elections are destroyed, or we will stay here together until this government will be overthrown, and give Albanians the choice they deserve”, Basha said.
