The political week of the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, started with a
meeting with the US Ambassador, Donald Lu. The Democratic party leader
said for the media that the opposition has the support of the
international community on their legal initiatives in Parliament. The
initiatives of the DP are several, starting with decriminalization.

“We are determined to remove all criminals from the administration, and there is no comrpomise for this. I want to tell you that same as for the decriminalization of politics, we have support from the international partners on this one”, Basha declared.

Basha was asked about the accusations made against the Parliament Speaker. He reiterated the appeal for an international investigation of the CEZ scandal.

“The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration expressed his readiness and this is the time to turn it into acts. This is my appeal to the SP, so that we can vote it together. Rama certainly must have interest to find out about his share in the division of 500 million EUR, if we don’t count those of the DIA. Let’s vote the law and give green light to the presence of international prosecutors”, the opposition leader declared.

Basha asked the Parliament Speaker for concrete actions, gather the conference of chairmen and pass their proposition for international investigation.

“Our agenda is a public declaration for the citizens’ interest. We appeal every MP to vote our legal initiatives, the international investigation of the CEZ corruptive affairs and other reforms on our country’s interest, such as the judiciary reform”, Basha declared.

For the opposition, both majority leaders have been involved in the CEZ affairs. But why do they address their request only to Ilir Meta?

“Our accusations against the Rama government, the Prime Minister and his Minister who is responsible for the CEZ agreement, remain as accusations and we want a thorough investigation about it. As for Meta, the accusations are published in official documents and international media”, Basha declared.

The Basha-Lu meeting comes in a time when the opposition has filed two legal initiatives, the first one at the Constitutional Court, to reject the agreement between the government and CEZ, and the second for an international investigation of the case in question.
