The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, together with the MPs Eduart
Halimi and Arben Ristani, met this Monday with the Prosecutor General,
Adriatik Llalla, to whom they handed over two reports against the
Socialist MPs, Arben Ndoka and Pjerin Ndreu.
Ndoka and Ndreu are reported for hitting and threatening the Democratic MP, Gent Strazimiri. For this, the DP wants to seize the security footage as evidence, but also to verify the actions of Prime Minister Edi Rama, since, according to the DP, the Prime Minister is the organizer of this attack.
“We filed two reports about the violence in Parliament exerted by MPs Ndoka and Ndreu against Mr.Strazimiri, and for the threat that Ndoka has made against the DP Spokesperson, Mr.Vorpsi. We discussed it with the Prosecutor General and requested quick and efficient steps for an investigation against aggressors, so that the Albanian institutions start functioning. When the opposition is not allowed to speak freely, and when violence is exchanged with the free speech, just to make the opposition silent, than there can be no democracy. Democracy is in danger”, Halimi declared after the meeting.
In the second report made against MP Arben Ndoka, they say that he has threatened and offended the Spokesperson of the DP, Laura Vorpsi.
The DP says that Ndoka asked Mrs.Vorpsi to stop making any declaration against him. The PD asked the Prosecution General to verify the criminal records of Ndoka in Italy.
DP: Rama ordered violence
“Threats against opposition. We will make transparency”
After the reports at the Prosecution General, Basha dined with the Ambassadors accredited in Tirana, with whom he expressed his concerns about the recent acts. He said for the journalists that crime has infiltrated the Parliament and that democracy and stability are threatened.
The Democratic Party MP, Majlinda Bregu, accused Prime Minister Rama of ordering the violence against the opposition and against free speech:
“The DP wants to make it clear to Rama that he is responsible for every violent act against the opposition. The DP is determined to make transparency for the infiltration of crime in the majority. The DP will not allow Albania to turn into a mafia oligarchy, and will not let the mafia bandits to bury the European dream of the Albanian people”, Bregu declared.
