The opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, held a meeting with journalists
today. His speeches focused on economy. It is clear that the opposition
has a different view from Prime Minister Edi Rama for the economic
situation in our country. For this, he gives the reasons as the
opposition sees it.

Basha explained that 2.2 billion EUR have been stolen by the government. His second purpose in this meeting was to tell explain Albanians how to leave – what he called – an economic misery.

“2.2 billion EUR were stolen in two years, mostly from customs and the tax office. Despite the higher taxes, the budget has still 400 million EUR less. The second on line for the abuse, with 500 million EUR. You can imagine what could have been done with that.”, Basha said.

The third abuse, for the Democratic Party, are the procurements. “There is no competition and the price is decided by Edi Rama. This money goes for luxury while people keep plunging into misery”, Basha declared.

The opposition leader said that investments for luxury of government leaders are a scheme for stealing taxes from the Albanian people. In total, according to basha, 88 million USD were stolen by a small group of people close to the Prime Minister. 90 million USD, according to the opposition, would be enough to create 25.000 jobs.

Basha added that the DP has a solid plan that will bring the country out of the crisis. “We will realize this plan by establishing fair taxation and transparent procurement subventions that will return 150 million EUR to taxpayers each year, money that will serve to policies that create jobs, increase industrial activity and employ the Albanian youth”.

The opposition leader warned that they will start denouncing figures and number of the money that oligarchs have stolen to the Albanian people with the blessing of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The Prime Minister answered to these declarations through a message on Twitter: “Like father, like son. Father slanders, son keeps slandering. Keep slandering around, because the justice reform is close”, Rama wrote.

Basha answered to this reaction: “The justice reform will come. Don’t worry. The lies of Edi Rama don’t sell anymore”, Basha said.
