Opposition focused on protests, boycott and Constitutional amends

The Democratic Party boycotted the Commission of Laws meeting held this Monday in Parliament, but its leader, Lulzim Basha, avoided answering if this meant boycotting the parliamentary agenda as well.

However, there is a boycott line. From three meetings that will meet this Tuesday, DP will attend only the Health Commission one, to raise awareness against cancer, a symbol that Basha also used politically.

“Tomorrow we will attend only the commission that will have a hearing session about cancer. We will be present in this humanitarian matter. Naturally, the battle is not only against cancer, but against the biggest cancer that our country has, organized crime and their political ties”, Basha said.

What Basha avoided, the SMI confirmed directly. Luan Rama said that the opposition will boycott all Parliamentary commission, except for the Health one.

Both opposition parties have openly declared their vote in favor of the arrest of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.

However, the Democratic Party has still to decide about other actions inside and outside the Parliament. One of them is about protests and presenting a draft law for Constitutional amends and for a total immunity removal of MPs.

This Monday Basha appealed the US and EU ambassadors to intervene and pressure Rama to stop what he called “a campaign for making the judiciary submitted to crime”.
