The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, demands a full parliamentary investigation into the Durres Port concession, the largest port in Albania, calling it a ‘corruption affair’.

Through a post on the social network Facebook, Bardhi demanded an investigation by the Special Prosecution Office to verify all investigations conducted on this “scandalous affair”, which according to him is suspected to have links with international organized crime.

“The Durres Port affair, which according to serious investigations by German media has traces that go as far as Ecuador and Colombia, is one of the biggest affairs of (PM) Edi Rama and (minister) Belinda Balluku, therefore it must be investigated seriously and without any delay. For this purpose, at today’s meeting of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, it was decided to request a full parliamentary investigation into this affair,” wrote DP’s Bardhi.

“Transparency over public assets and especially the verification and severing of the links of organized crime with major strategic projects of the country, should be the mission of the Assembly in the remaining period of this Legislature. The DP Parliamentary Group urges the Special Prosecutor’s Office to investigate and verify all investigations conducted into this scandalous corrupt affair as soon as possible and without any hesitation, which is suspected to have links with interstate organized crime,” the DP opposition member added.
