Opposition could boycott elections? No commissioners registered at CEC

The Central Election Commission is expected to appoint this Tuesday the Commissioners of the Socialist party for the local elections of June 30th.

The opposition parties didn’t introduce their propositions within the legal deadlines. As result, the CEC chairman appealed citizens in the last meeting to apply for these vacancies.

Is the opposition signaling this way that they will boycott the elections? Besides their radical decision to boycott the Parliament, the opposition has often stated that there will be no elections with Edi Rama.

However, the Democratic Party leader has not stated clearly whether his party will enter the electoral race, while his allies have been less vague. Not only they support boycott, but they also want to postpone the elections. However, even the opposition allies haven’t made any official confirmation. For them, everything might depend whether the Prime Minister accepts their condition and resigns.

Confidential sources have confirmed for Top Channel that citizens have already started applying for the vacancies, after the public appeal made by the CEC Chairman, Klement Zguri.
