A few months ago, the State Police announced the success of an operation called “Autumn 2017”, when they seized three armored vehicles in Tirana.

Police said that the vehicles had a total value 1 million EUR, and were suspected of being used for money laundering.

Two months after this announcement, Top Channel made an inquiry at the Prosecution of Tirana, finding out that the vehicles were returned to the legitimate owner, a Kosovo citizen, who had every document in order.

After verifying these documents, the Prosecution was forced to return the vehicles to the owners. The Police could have done the same thing before seizing the cars and announcing the hit as a big success.

Other information coming from local prosecutions of other districts show that most of the vehicles seized by the police for the “Autumn 2017” operation were returned to their owners while the verifications were undergoing. Only a small part of them are being held by a Court verdict.
