“I would plead to everyone with all my heart to forgive blood of all
families, and leave everyone free to start a new life as everybody
else”.
These were the words of Marsela, one of the children that cannot live quietly as every other peer, due to one of the worst wounds of our society, the blood feud, which has affected especially one friend of her.
The 10-year-old Altea in the Albanian capital, after hearing on Top Channel’s “Shqip” the little girl having only one desire, that of being free, created a drawing that she sent to journalist Rudina Xhunga, in solidarity of the isolated family.
“I was surprised that her biggest dream was freedom. We don’t think about that. We have that and we want toys and dolls. I felt sorry for her and I thought that we could contribute to resolve this problem. I really want to, and I really will do everything possible. I have heard before about blood feuds, and when the teachers explained us what it was and where it was spread without a solution”, Altea declared.
An absurd reality where rather than being at school or playing with other peers, children in these Albanian remote areas are obliged to live isolated by their four walls, with the fear of paying for things they haven’t done.
To give courage to Marsela and others like her, children say: “Marsela, we are with you!”.
