Oil Smuggling in Shengjin

The Lezhe Prosecution filed a criminal prosecution this Friday after a
report made by the Customs Office and the scandal reported by this
institution one day ago from this institution regarding the suspicions
that 4400 tons of illegal petrol have been launched in the Albanian
market by the Ada Petrol Company.

The Prosecution has officially declared for Top Channel that the case will be investigated for the smuggling of excise goods. According to the report made by the Customs, the 4400 tons had already been leaded by the Customs Authorities at the Shengjin Fuel Deposits, also owned by Ada Petrol. The damage caused to the state reaches almost 4 million USD.

On the other hand, the Prosecution says for Top Channel that even the state police has filed a report agains the oil company director, who claims that two central taps at the oil deposits have been destroyed. These are the two last equipments that will stay in the bottom part of the deposits, where the impurities of oil are collected. This means that when these equipments are non-functional, there is an oil spill.

Based on this report, the Prosecution has filed a lawsuit for property damage, according to Lezhe sources, and are starting proper verifications for oil spill on the terrain. On the other hand, the Prosecution confirmed for Top Channel that they are verifying on their own initiative if there is room for a penal case against the company and the Customs inspectors, for whom the Prosecution has collected data starting from 2008, when the deposits were closed. According to the law, the inspectors have the legal obligation to check their state every three months. Non-official sources say that the last inspection in these deposits might have been done on December 2012, meaning that the customs officers have not complied with their duty for the periodic control.
