Oil excise fraud

The Customs General Directory announced that the Canadian “Bankers
Petroleum”, which has received a concession for the Patos-Marinza field,
has violated the law for the excise to evade more than 23.2 million
ALL.

The Excise Department has identified during a control that his company has used 627.505 liters of D1 fuels for purposes different from what the product has been excluded from the excise, and that they haven’t declared it.

Customs says that through this illegal actions, Bankers Petroleum has evaded 23.3 million ALL of excise tax. For this violation they have been fined with 46.4 million ALL, making the total obligation 69.6 million ALL or 696.000 USD.

Sources at the Customs say that the Natural Resource Agency has sent a request for allowing “Bankers Petroleum” to import for one year more than 124.000 tons of gasoil and 15.000 tons of diesel. The Bankers request was made on July 18th.
