The leader of the long-term ODIHR observing mission for the June 23rd
elections, the American Conny McCormack, declared that the goal is to
continue with the process during and after the elections.
“The final report will be published eight week after the elections. The most important part for the elections is the opening and the transparency. We will observe the voting process and the post-electoral situation”, McCormack declared.
Representatives of the mission had a meeting with the Albanian Foreign minister, Aldo Bumci. The head of the Albanian diplomacy welcomed the ODIHR team. The second meeting was held with the four Central Election Commission members, an institution that is working partially. The ODIHR observers received information on the election preparation process.
The agenda of the long-term election observation mission has the running of the electoral campaign, including the analyzing of lists for the elections, and the implementation of the legislation for monitoring the media. ODIHR foresees that there will be more than 400 observers on terrain. They plan a preliminary report that will be held on June 2nd and 4th, while the final report will be planned by the short-termed observers, led by Roberto Batelli, appointed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE.
