750.000 cases of the Ochrid Trout fingerlings (Koran) have been thrown
inside the Ochrid Lake of Pogradec, in order to increase the population
of one of the rarest fish species.
The small fish are thrown each year in this period, and this time it was done with the prsence of the Minister of Environment. Koran is an endangered species due to the poaching in every month of the year.
The Head of the Fishinig Association in Pogradec declared that the Pogradec Lake is a production industry from which many families make a living, and for this he appealed for more implementation of laws against poaching.
The Koran fingerlings are thrown into the lake each year, but most of the time they end up in the fishermen nets, who don’t let them grow but try to sell them at any month.
