The relations with Macedonia and the territorial integrity of this country have a special importance for Albania.

This is what the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declare after the meeting with his Macedonian homologue, Nikolla Gruevski. Rama declared that the Ochrid agreement should serve as a reference point for the entire internal political process in Macedonia.

The Albanian Prime Minister declared that he sees with great concern the violent cases that have taken place in Macedonia, and declared that the future of the country should be built together.

“The future belongs to both of us and we will build it together in this region and this is country, where Albanians are part of the lawmaking system, active in the entire political process, organized and represented even in today’s government of Macedonia, and where the Albanians are interested to show that the Ochrid agreement should be implemented with seriousness and success”, Rama declared.

Rama and Gruevski exchanged ideas about the further advance of the mutual cooperation in all sectors. The two Pms promised for mutual support in all integration processes and reiterated that the European Union is the strategic goal of both countries.

“We underlined the need to continue a further implementation of the European Union enlargement policies. This is very important for our mutual progress. As for the mutual relations, we think that there is a continuance of the political dialogue, respect and mutual trust, and also good cooperation in the regional plan. We focused on the need to intensify the economic cooperation, the road and railway infrastructure, and also for many projects for energy and energy connections”, Gruevski declared.

As for the region, the Albanian Prime Minister declared that he expects 2014 to be the first year in history without conflict.

The Albanian Prime Minister also met with President Gjorgje Ivanov and the Parliament Speaker Traiko Veljankovski. On Tuesday Rama met with the two Albanian political leaders of Macedonia, Ahmeti and Thaci.
