On September 26th, the US President, Barack Obama, has initiated a summit with the coalition countries in the fight against ISIS. The summit will be held in New York and will make a balance of what has been achieved so far.

Top Channel has learned from diplomatic sources that Prime Minister Rama
has received an invitation from the White House to be part of this
summit.

But the same source says that Prime Minister Rama will be
one of the 12 world leaders and the only one from our region that will
hold a speech and share with the participants what the US has considered
a success of Albania in confronting extremism.

The US Deputy
Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, visited Tirana on June 13th, 2015,
when she praised Albania’s efforts against extremism.

“We had
good discussions with the entire political spectrum and non-government
organizations about the need to oppose extremism and the work you are
doing to address these problems in Albania and the region. We consider
Albania as a country that has climbed several steps, turning into a
regional leader in this fight, and we, as partners, value this. I want
to underline that you have a rich multi-ethnic tradition of cooperation
and religious harmony. This is something you could share with the other
countries of the region. We want to congratulate you for what you have
done”, Nuland said.

A work group from Washington has arrived in Tirana to coordinate the summit agenda with Edi Rama.

The
Prime Minister’s press office refused to make any comment when
contacted by Top Channel, while the invitation removes all insinuations
that have been made saying that Rama would not be part of the summit.
