In January of this year, 377,000 foreign nationals visited Albania, in an increase of 94% from a year ago and a positive signal for the tourism sector in the country.
Meanwhile, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the country increased by 73% from the previous year.
In total, there were about 830 thousand people who moved through the borders of the country last month.
Albanians who went abroad increased by 45.8%, showing more the preference of citizens to take winter holidays abroad.
According to the figures of the national statistics institute INSTAT, it is shown that about 95% of the foreign citizens who came to the country were from Europe, mainly from Southern Europe, which includes countries such as Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro
and North Macedonia.
They were followed visitors from Western Europe, which includes the industrialized countries such as France and Germany and then Central Europe, led by the Poles.
7,000 foreign citizens came here from America, while citizens from East Asia and Pacific countries doubled in number this January. INSTAT said that visits by foreigners for business and professional purposes increased by 22.5%
