As in less than a week is the bleak anniversary of the deadly earthquake of November 26 that hit Albania, the Durrës prosecutor’s office announces that it has completed the investigation on a considerable number of apartments and buildings damaged or collapsed, and the 23 deaths in Durrës.
Investigations have been carried out on the damages and human consequences as a result of constructions carried out without standards and without the permission of the competent bodies.
Among the list of 16 names, is Ramiz Shehu, who will be judged as a architect and implementer of illegal construction works of the Lala family house, where 8 people lost their lives: Marjeta Lala, Amelja Lala, Emiljo Lala, Enis Lala, Dionisa Lala, Sahadete Lala, Ilir Lala and Grisilda Lala.
Ramiz Shehu carried out the construction of a four-storey building, without respecting the legal rules and norms in the field of construction, which resulted in the collapse of the building and the death of eight people. Also, from the verification of the seized documentation results a document in which is the signature of the citizen Nevjana Isufi, who has consumed the elements of the criminal offense “Falsification of documents”.
Abdulla Osmani is on trial for the collapse of the Tropical Hotel, in which two Kosova citizens (brothers Shemsedin Abazi and Isah Abazi) lost their lives, as well as the owner Abdulla Osmani and his wife suffered serious injuries. Osmani in the capacity of investor and builder without a permit, with his actions and inactions has consumed the elements of the criminal manslaughter offense. He completed the construction of a five-storey building + attic, without respecting the rules and legal norms in the field of construction.
Ruzhdi Xheka is related to “Hotel Mira Mare”, from the collapse of which citizens Sotiraq Misha and Evjola Broshka lost their lives. This facility was built without the permission of the competent authorities.
Arben Isaku, in the capacity of director of the regulation body of the territory of Durrës, approving the legalization of the 5-storey building of “Hotel Mira Mare” has committed actions contrary to the amended law “On legalization, urbanization and integration of illegal constructions” .
