The Albanian Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, spoke about the release
of the Mayor of Kamze and the Korce Border Director, who were arrested
over corruption and power abuse charges. Tahiri declared that the
government is decided to bring down the wall of impunity even for
high-rank officials.

“We are determined to bring down the impunity wall even for high-rank officials. It is understandable and we should coordinate our work in the fight against corruption, including the judiciary. We are determined to not allow some segments of the judiciary, try to push back the successful fight of the police and state against corruption”, Tahiri declared.

Tahiri was visiting Gjirokaster today, for the annual analyze of the police in this district, and declared that the criminals in Lazarat will be punished in a record breaking time. For Tahiri, the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics in this area is more than a police issue.

As for the complaints about the fines, Minister Tahiri considered this an issue that has been inflated by those who have not respected the state authority and have not been punished by it.
