Two police agents have committed suicide recently, and both cases are under investigation.
Syndicalist unions say that one of the reasons could be the lack of psychological treatment, while 80% of them live under hard stress.
Arjon Mance, a former commando in Afghanistan and current National Guard agent, killed himself this Tuesday. Shkelzen Qordja, another National Guard officer, driver for the Interior Minister, committed suicide on June 30th.
Two other police officers had committed suicide earlier during the year. It was commented that it was because of the Police Vetting.
The fact is that Albania doesn’t have a structured network of officers who treat the problems of police officers, due to the high stress in their work.
Only the RENEA special police officers have psychologists who take care of them.
