The Prosecution General cannot do anything unti Thursday for the case
reported by the Ministry of Defense against Minister Arben Imami,
currently Democratic Party Parliament Member.
A non-official source said for Top Channel that the Prosecution is in this situation because the PG, Adriatic Llalla, is on a business trip in Great Britain. For this reason, the case will be kept pending until he returns, and all other steps will be taken after he returns.
Other former Ministry of Defense leaders who have been reported are Shkelqim Berisha, former director of the DRSHMl Mentor Beqja, Adviser for Media; Sokol Berimaj, vice Director of the Culture Center and Publishing of Defense, and Nika Sinaj, chief of logistics at the QKMB.
Minister Mimi Kodheli guaranteed that the file has been prepared by a group of experts. The former Minister and former employees are suspected of abusing with the contributions given by the state for infringing equality in the media and public tenders. The episode is related to the issue of TV ads, abuses that reach to 1 million USD.
DP: Rama started a witch hunt
The Democratic Party accused the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, of starting a witch hunt against his political adversaries. Parliament Member Jorida Tabaku declared that Rama’s order to punish the former Minister of Defense, Arben Imami, can go only in totalitarian regimes.
The Democratic Party says that the political attacks will not stop the opposition’s action against the illegality of this government.
“Rama must know that Albania functions on laws and Constitution, where the only institution that gives the order is the Court. No one can go over it, even Edi Rama. His declaration shows that Edi Rama is starting a witch hunt and wants to lynch a political adversary by ignoring justice. Rama has attacked Arben Imami for years. Rama declared publicly that he would retaliate, which shows that this is just a political attack against Arben Imami. Rama cannot hide from his unkept promises with these farces against the opposition. His order for punishing his opponent fully uncovers a man who became Prime Minister simply through corruption”, Tabaku declared.
