The Construction of the Tirana-Elbasan highway has shortened much of the
road, and especially a difficult and mountainous one. But this has not
been reflected on the transportation fees.
This concern comes from citizens, who have to travel each day on this road for several reasons.
“I think that prices should be lower, because the road is shorter now”, one traveler says.
Taxi van drivers say that it is impossible to lower prices when dishonest competition is blocking their activity.
They say that in these conditions they would be obliged to close their activity, if prices would get lower.
“We do just one trip each day. How can I lower the fee?”, one of them says.
The travel time was cut from 1 hour to 30 minutes, and drivers save more on fuel by avoiding the old mountainous road”.
