“No decision to put people in danger”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama,  gave a second press release
about Syria’s chemical weapons by guaranteeing the Albanian citizens
that it’s not the case for alarm.

After saying that he understands everyone who protests in front of the ministry, Rama declared that Albania’s inclusion in this matter is natural, as part of the Euro-Atlantic family and a partner of the United States of America.

“There are too many unknown things, also for the fact that many untrue facts have been told. Or even because the discussion is going while is everything part of a wide, intensive discussion, with the highest responsibility, and certainly by the Albanian government, and I can guarantee you for this. Let me allow that without any doubt, today and always, I will remain proud that we are a majority chosen by a strong popular vote, and that the first law passed by us was the one which banned the waste import”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister explained for the public that the canceling of the waste import law and the chemical weapons of Assad are two separate things.

“Certainly that people need complete safety. They need a complete plan in front of their eyes. People need to judge on a full agreement and to hear a complete reasoning about what Albania profits, even from the environmental point of view, if such an operation will be involved. All of this will be said and heard only when the plan will be complete, and when this complete agreement will be ready to be discussed. The fact is that there is no agreement so far with the countries involved in this process, and not only with us, but also between those countries”, the Prime Minister continued.

“Our ‘yes’ will be related only to a plan and an agreement which will make Albania come out not only with its head high, but with more benefits and cleaner than today”, Rama declared.

“Every parent should know that the Albanian government and I will never put ourselves in a position that puts in danger a single child or a single family. Every grandparent in this country should know that we would never say ‘yes’ and I would never be on Parliament to ask a ‘yes’ without having a plan that is based on an agreement that would guarantee not only all dangers that have been imagined due to a propaganda, based on untrue facts”, Rama declared.
