No arrest order for the “Baron”. Tirana to Athens: “Make a request”

11/05/2016 22:50

The State Police has no arrest order for Klemend Balili, Director of
Driving Licenses in Tirana, accused by the Greek Police of being part of
an international drug traffic

Police sources say that Balil has transported drugs to Greece, Netherlands and Belgium, but he has not committed any crime in Albania.

This forces the Albanian police to request an international arrest order from Greece.

The investigation on Balili doesn’t make him look like involved in the drug traffic, since our country has served as a transit corridor.

For this reason, the Albanian police cannot arrest Balili only for the data they have. This is necessary also to avoid further legal issues that might come up, the police argues.

Balili has been under the watch of the police, and they will act as soon as the request arrives.

The police admitted there is an ongoing operation with the Greek police, the American DEA and police forces in other EU countries.

Police didn’t give more details since they would damage te investigation.
