One day before the official electoral campaign, the Albanian President,
Bujar Nishani, summoned the media leaders and asked them to contribute
in making a correct coverate of the campaign and avoid emotional
behaviors that could bring unnecessary costs for the country.
“There are opinions about a suspicious electoral process, and the dangers of social conflicts of different political actors before, during and after the elections”, the president declared.
“The political actors and the media can stop the exaggerated emotions and prevent unnecessary dramas, so that these tones cannot return into institutional costs for the country”, Nishani declared.
The President declared that he will take no measures for resolving the Central Election Commission crisis, since it is not his legal competence.
“The opposition must take its institutional responsibility and fill the Central Election Commission vacancies, not as an obligation against the political opponent, but to fulfill their duty, their institutional right and their contribution in the election management process”, Nishani declared.
The President also commented Berisha’s promise to liberalize the visa regime with the United States of America, while the American ambassador himself said that this declaration of Berisha had surprised the United States Embassy. But this wasn’t the case for the Albanian president.
“There are some initiatives from President Obama to liberalize the process for some countries. The American Congress and the White House are discussing this matter and I believe that this will be a very important moment for the Albanian citizens. I am convinced that this can be achieved through hard work”, Nishani declared.
The President did not comment the relation of the Albanian government and the United States of America, but he said that evaluation for the United States ambassador is made by the United States President.
